About Calexico East Port of Entry
Calexico East, known in Mexicali as Garita Nuevo Mexicali or Garita 2, opened in 1996 east of downtown to take traffic off Calexico West. On the U.S. side it connects directly to California State Route 7. All commercial trucks entering the United States from Mexicali are inspected here, and it also serves passenger vehicles and pedestrians.
