The Veterans International Bridge at Los Tomates, called Ignacio Zaragoza on the Mexican side, opened on April 30, 1999 and is the newest of Brownsville’s three bridges. It ties straight into I-69E in Brownsville and into Matamoros’s loop roads, which makes it the route for commercial trucks and for travelers heading past the city.
