SENTRI and Ready Lane guide: requirements and costs

Crossing the Santa Fe Bridge: full guide

The Santa Fe Bridge, officially the Paso del Norte International Bridge, is the most central crossing between Ciudad Juárez and El Paso. It links Avenida Juárez with downtown El Paso just steps apart, which makes it the go-to crossing for people who walk across to work, study, or shop downtown. It operates 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Best times to cross the Santa Fe Bridge

Santa Fe is one of the busiest crossings, so the time you arrive makes all the difference. The longest northbound lines form on weekday mornings between 6 and 9 a.m., when commuters and students cross, and on Sunday afternoons. If your schedule is flexible, the fastest crossings are usually weekdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and late at night after 11 p.m. Monday mornings and the days before a holiday are when it pays to leave early or pick another bridge. The live wait time at the top of this page shows you exactly how the line looks right now.

Lanes: regular, Ready Lane, SENTRI and pedestrian

Santa Fe has regular vehicle lanes, a Ready Lane for RFID-chip documents, a SENTRI lane for enrolled trusted travelers, and a pedestrian crossing. SENTRI is the fastest option if you already have the card, and walking across is often quicker than driving when downtown is backed up. If you cross often, getting a Ready Lane or SENTRI document is well worth the daily time savings.

    Documents and toll

To cross into El Paso you need a valid passport and tourist visa, or your residency card if you live in the United States. Santa Fe is a toll bridge, so bring cash or your payment method for the booth. Requirements and fees differ heading back into Juárez, so make sure your documents are in order in both directions.
